Our Students

Learning

Our children are between the ages of three (as of December 1st) and five. The age groups are mixed in order to encourage peer-to-peer learning. The ultimate objective of our Montessori approach is to help children learn independently, retaining the curiosity, creativity and intelligence with which they were born. The classroom is considered the “children’s house.” The teachers prepare and maintain the physical, intellectual, and social/emotional environment within which the children will work and play.

The Montessori approach includes four principles:
  • To awaken the child’s spirit and imagination;
  • To encourage a normal desire for independence and high sense of self-esteem;
  • To help develop the kindness, courtesy, and self-discipline that will allow them to become a full member of society; and
  • To help the child learn to observe, question and explore ideas independently.
