A Letter from our Leaders to You
Dear Friends,
As Escuela Cooperativa enters its 10th year, we are excited to share the impact of 2025-2026. For 10 years, we have celebrated how children’s natural curiosity can lead to close friendships, rich learning experiences, respect for the environment, and increased self-esteem. In this report we describe how the activities of our teachers and parents contribute to their development. We have also included testimonials from former students and their families, and throughout the year, we will share stories from some of our graduates
We started 10 years ago in a converted tile shop with 10 children who we walked to the public park for recess. Thanks to our generous donors, we now have two large classrooms and our own playground that serve 44 children each year. This community-based school for local children remains tuition free. We have increased our partnerships with other organizations and expanded our services. This Impact Report demonstrates the difference we believe we are making to the community. We hope you will support our work, so we can continue to make a difference.

Teacher Initiatives

Created the first-ever Cultural Awareness Week

Revised the Parent Handbook

Created a new team with Jazmin leading the blue classroom

Music teacher, Walter, started an after school music program at Escuela

Physical education teacher, Vivianna, organized a Junior Olympics Day with medals for all and a grand parade through town

Vivianna designed colorful notecards with watercolors of our children by iconic places in Sayulita

Organized the first-ever field trips to the Entreamigos library in San Pancho and Vista Paraiso ranch

English teacher expanded the Tuesday/Thursday after school program to include Saturdays

Local dentist, Carla, examined each student and sent written evaluations to each family

Escuela contributed a chapter to a collaborative book, “The Healing Power of Mexico” detailing its evolution - PURCHASE HERE.

Our Parents
In addition to their routine responsibilities at Escuela:

Continued to maintain the garden on the plaza, cleanup across town and composting

Organized three projects to fund improvements to the Escuela grounds

Made 100s of paper flowers to decorate the Escuela Carnavale benefit

Designed 50 floral headpieces to sell at the annual benefit

Elected a representative to the Escuela Advisory Board
-
Represented 25 countries during Cultural Awareness Week and made presentations to the children that included costumes, food, and culture

Partnered with community organizations
Mujeres Movimiento, Damian Carmona, Azul Sayulita, Donatec, Runners Puerta Vallarta
132 books were donated by the “Read to Me” organization based in Albuquerque, NM
Water filter was donated by Agua Libre and the Rotary Club of Orillia, CN
Our Parents Say...
Thank you, teacher, because Carolina has a good foundation in knowledge. Third place. I never imagined Carolina would achieve something like this. The school has good results.

I believe it is good the grade levels are mixed because the younger children learn from the older ones and the older ones learn how to get along with and look after the little ones.
My little one…he boasts all over the middle school that his teacher, Martha, taught him to read and add. He had a wonderful teacher at the school—dedicated, loving and above all someone who teaches the children with great love. Thank you for having such an excellent teacher.
What I like most about the classroom is the teaching method because the children learn while playing and having fun.
